Chhota Rajan faces a threat from Delhi's top gangster Neeraj Bawana

Was Delhi's top gangster Neeraj Bawana plotting to eliminate underworld don Chhota Rajan inside Tihar jail at the instance of the D company ? Intelligence shared with Tihar authorities two weeks ago strongly pointed to the possibility, leading to a review of Rajan's security in the high-profile prison.
According to the inputs, the latest D company bid to target Rajan got busted after one of Bawana's aides boasted about the plot to another associate during what was described as drunken banter. This was picked up by the agencies which brought it to the notice of all stakeholders involved in Rajan's security.Bawana also gave feelers about the plot during a meeting with a mulaqati (visitor), a source said. Incidentally, Rajan and Bawana are lodged in the same jail (no. 2) but have different cells. After the alert, Bawana has been shifted to an isolated cell.
'Rajan's security foolproof at Tihar'
A few days before he was moved, mobile phones were recovered from Bawana's cell. Rajan has been lodged in Tihar, and not in jails in Mumbai or Maharashtra, because officials felt it would be difficult for Dawood Ibrahim and his network to get to their target in the highly secure Delhi prison.A few days later, the aide, also a known gangster in NCR, "drunk-dialled" another gang member during which he bragged about the "big tasks" ahead.
"The gist of the conversation was that Bawana may have been contacted by a conduit set up by D company to outsource the killing of their most sought after target for the past two decades," the source said. The D company has been trying to take down Rajan since he allegedly left them after the 1993 Mumbai blasts. The first bid on Rajan was inside an apartment in Sukhumvit Soi area of Bangkok, where four men barged into the flat where he was staying and opened indiscriminate fire.
Though Rajan escaped through a window, his aide Rohit Verma was killed in the strike masterminded by Chhota Shakeel. Shakeel had been tipped off by Rajan's aide Sharad Shetty, who was later killed in Mumbai by Rajan's hired men.Rajan escaped to a Gulf country from Bangkok from where he shifted to Australia. He lived there for around seven years until his cook blurted out his location in April 2015.
However, since the Indian government chose to lodge him in Tihar jail in Delhi, Shakeel has been making desperate attempts to target him through criminals. He had even sent Rs 1 lakh to four criminals who were arrested by special cell, twice. The same men were arrested again in 2017 while planning another attack on instructions of the D company.
